The “File Menu” in Docu2.me provides essential functionalities to manage your documents, including creating new files, opening existing documents, saving changes, sharing via email or downloading in different formats, renaming, page setup, and printing.
1 – New
The “New” option in the “File” menu allows you to create a new blank document in Docu2.me, ready for you to start typing and formatting your content.
1.1 – Document
The “Document” option within the “New” submenu allows you to create a new standard text document in Docu2.me, ideal for most types of content, such as letters, reports, articles, and more.
Creating a new document:
To create a new blank document in Docu2.me, follow the path below:
- Menu: Access the main menu.
- File: Click on “File“.
- New: In the dropdown menu, select “New“.
- Document: Click on “Document“.
A new blank document will be created in a new tab of your browser, ready for you to start editing.
2 – Open
The “Open” option in the “File” menu allows you to access and open existing Docu2.me documents that have been previously saved in your Salesforce cloud storage. This feature enables you to continue editing your documents from where you left off.
Opening an existing document:
To open an existing Docu2.me document, follow the path below:
- Menu: Access the main menu.
- File: Click on “File“.
- Open: In the dropdown menu, select “Open“.
- Shortcut key: Ctrl+O or ⌘+O
This option will open the file explorer on your computer or mobile device, allowing you to navigate and select the Docu2.me file you wish to edit. Docu2.me files have the extension *.docu2me.
Once you select the file, it will open in a new tab within the Doc2.me editor, ready for you to continue working on it.
3 – Make a Copy
The “Make a Copy” option in the “File” menu allows you to create an identical copy of the current document, including all its content and formatting. This copy is opened in a new tab, allowing you to edit it independently of the original document, thus preserving the original version.
To create a copy of the current document, including its settings, and open it in a new tab for editing, follow the path below:
- Menu: Access the main menu.
- File: Click on “File“.
- Make a Copy: In the dropdown menu, select “Make a Copy“.
An identical copy of the document will be created and opened in a new tab of your browser, allowing you to edit the copy without altering the original document.
4 – Save
The “Save” option in the “File” menu allows you to save the changes made to the current document. This ensures that your work is preserved and that you can access it later.
To save the current document, ensuring that your changes are preserved, follow the path below:
- Menu: Access the main menu.
- File: Click on “File“.
- Save: In the dropdown menu, select “Save“.
- Shortcut key: Ctrl+S or ⌘+S
The document will be saved with its current name and stored in the .docu2me format in the user’s “Files” section in Salesforce.

5 – Email
The “Email” option in the “File” menu allows you to send the current Docu2.me document via email. You can include the document content directly in the email body or attach it in different formats, such as PDF, Web Page, or Word document.
- Menu: Access the main menu.
- File: Click on “File“.
- Email: In the dropdown menu, select “Email“.
Options:
- Send yourself a copy: If checked, the author of the document edit will receive a copy of the email.
- To: Field to add the email addresses of the recipients, which can be Salesforce users or external addresses.
- Subject: By default, the subject of the email is filled in with the title of the document, but it can be edited as needed.
- Message: Field to write the body of the email.
- Don’t attach. Include content in the email: With this checkbox checked, the document content will be included directly in the email body, in the format chosen in “File Type”: Docu2.me Document (.docu2me), PDF Document (.pdf), Web Page, zipped (.html) in compressed file and Microsoft Word (.doc).
Buttons:
- Cancel: Discards the changes and closes the email sending window.
- Send: Sends the email with the defined settings.
Functionalities:
- Allows you to send personalized emails with the content of the Docu2.me document.
- Offers flexibility to attach the document or include it directly in the email body.
- Simplifies document sharing with other users, inside or outside of Salesforce.
6 – Download
The “Download” option in the “File” menu allows you to download a copy of your Docu2.me document to your computer or device. You can choose from various file formats, such as .docu2me (for further editing in Docu2me), .doc (Microsoft Word), .pdf (PDF Document), .txt (Plain Text), or .html, zipped (Web Page), depending on how you intend to use or share the document.
- Menu: Access the main menu.
- File: Click on “File“.
- Download: In the dropdown menu, select “Download“.
Available Download Formats:
6.1 – Docu2.me Document (.docu2me)
This is the native Docu2.me format, preserving all formatting, interactive elements, and features specific to the editor. Use this format to continue editing the document in Docu2.me later.
6.2 – Microsoft Word (.doc)
Widely used format for text documents, compatible with Microsoft Word and other text editors. Allows you to preserve most basic formatting, but some advanced Docu2.me features may be lost.
6.3 – PDF Document (.pdf)
Universal format for documents, ensuring that the appearance and layout are preserved on any device or operating system. Ideal for sharing and printing final documents.
6.4 – Plain Text (.txt)
Simple text format, without formatting, ideal for storing basic information and quickly sharing text.
6.5 – Web Page (.html, zipped)
Format used for web pages, allowing you to view the document in a browser with basic formatting and links.
Example of Use:
- You created a detailed report in Docu2.me, with tables, charts, and advanced formatting. To share it with a colleague who does not have Docu2.me, you can download the document in PDF format, ensuring that they view the report exactly as you created it.
- You need to send a draft text to a colleague for review. To make editing easier in any text editor, you can download the document in Microsoft Word (.doc) format.
- You want to store a simple contact list, with no need for formatting. For this, you can download the document in Plain Text (.txt) format.
7 – Rename
The “Rename” option in the “File” menu allows you to change the name of the current Docu2.me document. This is useful for organizing your documents and making them easier to identify later.
- Menu: Access the main menu.
- File: Click on “File“.
- Rename: In the dropdown menu, select “Rename”.
Alternative:
- You can also rename the document by clicking directly on the current title, located in the header on the left, above the menu bar.
- After renaming the document by either method, the new name will be displayed in the header and saved automatically.
8 – Page Setup
The “Page Setup” option in the “File” menu allows you to customize the page settings of your document, such as paper size, orientation (portrait or landscape), margins, header and footer, and background color.
- Menu: Access the main menu.
- File: Click on “File“.
- Page Setup: In the dropdown menu, select “Page Setup“.

- Inches: Imperial unit of measurement, commonly used in the United States. 1 inch is equivalent to 2.54 centimeters.
- Centimeters: Metric unit of measurement, widely used around the world.
- Millimeters: Metric unit of measurement, even more precise than the centimeter. 1 centimeter is equivalent to 10 millimeters.
- Pixels: Digital unit of measurement, used to define dimensions on screens and images.
Orientation
Defines the direction of the page, which can be:
- Portrait: The page is taller than it is wide, ideal for most documents.
- Landscape: The page is wider than it is tall, useful for tables, graphs, and wide images.
Description of Paper Sizes:
- Letter: Standard paper size in the US and Canada.
- Tabloid: Larger than Letter size, often used for newspapers and posters.
- Craft: Slightly longer than Letter size, ideal for documents with additional content.
- Declaration: Smaller than Letter size, commonly used for declarations and forms.
- Executive: Size between Letter and A4, often used for business letters and reports.
- Folio: Slightly longer than Letter size, traditionally used for legal and academic documents.
- A3, A4, A5: International paper sizes, widely used around the world.
- B4, B5: Japanese paper sizes, also used in other Asian countries.
- Custom Page: Allows you to define a custom page size by adjusting the width (“Width”) and height (“Height”) according to the selected unit of measurement.
Page Color:
- Allows you to select a background color for the page, using a standard color palette or option remove color.
Auto Save:
- This option, when enabled, automatically saves changes made to the document at regular intervals. Auto-save only works if the document has already been saved at least once.
Note: If you close Docu2.me without manually saving a document with unsaved changes, an alert will be displayed so you can save the file before exiting.
Page Margins:
- Defines the white space around the page content. You can adjust the top, bottom, left, and right margins according to the selected unit of measurement.
Header & Footer Margins:
- Defines the space between the header/footer and the page content. You can adjust the header margin (“Header – From Top”) and the footer margin (“Footer – From Bottom”) according to the selected unit of measurement.
Buttons:
- Set as Default: Saves the current settings as the default for new documents.
- Cancel: Discards the changes and closes the page setup window.
- OK: Applies the changes and closes the page setup window.
Note: By default, the page is configured with inches as the unit of measurement, portrait orientation, Letter paper size, white background color, and 1-inch margins on all sides, including header and footer.
9 – Print
The “Print” option in the “File” menu allows you to print the Docu2.me document directly from the editor, using the default print settings of your browser or operating system.
- Menu: Access the main menu.
- File: Click on “File“.
- Print: In the dropdown menu, select “Print“.
- Shortcut key: Ctrl+P or ⌘+P
After selecting “Print“, a standard print window from your browser will open, allowing you to configure the print options, such as printer, number of copies, pages to be printed, and other specific settings.
